Founder and lead writer Jonathon Nagl had spent a great deal of his life writing, both creatively and professionally. So when it came time to craft a toast for his brother's wedding, he felt confident it would go well. It did!

 

After the toast, several wedding guests approached him, wanting to know how he came up with his speech. A couple were nervous about toasts they had committed to give in the coming months, and wanted to know - how could they write one too?

"Speak from the heart!" Jonathon said. "And maybe hire a professional writer."

"Are you available?" they wanted to know.

Jonathon had been joking. Mostly. But soon after, Cheers Co. was born.
